Both Houdini Education and Houdini Apprentice use the same Scene file and Digital Asset file formats. It allows for the export of FBX and Alembic files and lets you run Houdini Engine plug-ins in host applications such as Maya, 3ds Max, Unreal and Unity. Houdini Education removes the render watermark and resolution restrictions of Apprentice. With this change, many more students have the opportunity to learn Houdini and benefit from the Education license’s extended capabilities.

This license is non-commercial and is designed for students completing independent educational coursework and exploration.Īccess to Houdini Education is available to all students, even if your school doesn’t currently teach Houdini. Now students can rent Houdini Education for $75 USD per year.Īccess to this license lets students avoid the Apprentice restrictions while working with the same file formats that are used in school labs. Until now, students could use the FREE Houdini Apprentice at home then use Houdini Education in a school lab.
Interns must demonstrate good modeling and animation skills, and the ability to texture and light a scene, set up cameras, render out and composite animations.SideFX is pleased to announce that students now have direct access to rent Houdini Education for personal use. We would like to see a quality demo reel that demonstrates the skills of an entry level professional, with a strong knowledge of at least one 3D animation software, although knowledge of Houdini is preferred.
Applicants must be highly motivated, with an artistic talent, and have the ability to organize and work with little supervision, while meeting the required deadlines. However, any sufficiently talented individual will be considered. We are looking for senior students, or recent graduates, of a Computer Animation program. Interns will receive a salary of $800/ month. All applicants must be Canadian residents. Our Internship program is 4 months long starting in January, May, and September. Interns will also be given time and facilities to create work for their demo tapes.

Side Effects Software is the creator of the award winning Houdini animation software, ([These positions will allow the Interns to gain exposure to the high-end film effects industry while assisting Side Effects in various projects, such as creating digital content for demonstrations, learning and training materials, and influencing the design of cutting edge technology for professional artists in Hollywood. Strong modeling skills and a desire to learn our Houdini software are what I am interested in. As we are targeting modeling in this term I am not concerned if applicants do not have skills in animation, lighting, rendering or compositing. I wanted to post an add for our Internship program in the hope that some of you modelers might want to apply. Most of our character modeling is being done by our talented team of interns. We are now in the process of creating some lovely models, to showcase our rigging and animation tools. Over the past year we have developed some fun and easy to use character rigging tools.
